Pros
Smart, capable colleagues who care about the company and its goals. The work environment is collaborative and supportive, with a strong sense of community. Work-life balance is good, and working for a European company is a real plus.
Cons
DeepL feels completely lost right now. AI is changing the market fast, and leadership seems to have no real strategy beyond pretending everything is under control. Quotas are not being hit, morale is poor, and communication is either nonexistent or full of empty talking points about competing with other companies and how things are supposedly going well. It comes across as denial, not leadership. Management feels deeply disconnected from the reality of the business and from the people doing the actual work. There is a lot of image management which is starting to look cliquey and very little honesty about how serious the problems are. On top of that, the ex-CRO bringing in his own friends instead of hiring genuinely qualified people with relevant experience seems to have damaged the quality of leadership and decision-making. The result is a company that feels increasingly driven by favoritism, weak judgment, and self-preservation rather than competence.
