Pros

I started with the company as an Analyst and have since been promoted multiple times into a Senior Associate role, which speaks to the strong opportunities for growth and internal advancement. Compensation and benefits are highly competitive compared to other developers in the affordable housing industry. Leadership also provides a high level of autonomy and trust, allowing employees to take ownership of their projects without feeling micromanaged. The culture encourages independence while still offering support when needed.

Cons

The company is growing rapidly, which means processes and procedures can change frequently. While this is understandable given the pace of growth, it can sometimes create frustration or uncertainty in day-to-day operations. The affordable housing industry is also facing significant market and policy headwinds, and while leadership has done a solid job navigating these challenges, additional transparency around higher-level strategic decisions would help strengthen employee confidence and alignment.

Pros

DevCo Residential Group is an established mid-sized corporation with a stable history and strong leadership team. The founder (Jack) is still actively involved in the business and even speaks during monthly new hire onboarding. DevCo has historically developed affordable multifamily apartments in Western Washington and recently started expanding out of state several years back. The business is continuing to prosper and has ambitious growth plans in the coming years. As of May 2026, DevCo owns/operates 9,000+ multifamily units in the Western Washington area and 5,000+ multifamily units out of state (now in 14 different states). DevCo is a vertically integrated development firm with an in-house GC (DevCo US Construction). The development team is strong and now regionalized across the country. In early 2026, the company opened a satellite office in the Minneapolis, MN area. The HQ Bellevue, WA office is very nice and was recently fully remodeled in the Fall of 2025. The office manager keeps the office tidy, decorated, and stocked with snacks/drinks/coffee which is free to employees. Parking is also fully employer paid (in the attached parking garage) for employees who come into the office at least three days per week. DevCo is a mid-sized company of 430 employees, but has the processes, technology, and feel of a larger corporation. The business has plenty of runway to scale and continue to grow. Leadership is continuously challenging the status quo and laying the foundation for the next step forward. Most all processes and procedures are set with the initiation of being able to scale with the business. The company invests in modern software and systems that are relevant in 2026. DevCo is a great place to work and offers everything that people are looking for in an employer during modern times: competitive salaries, annual merit increases that keep up with inflation, annual bonuses that actually pay out, ability to work a flexible hybrid in-office schedule (with some teams being fully remote), 401k with 4% employer match, excellent benefits which are 100% employer paid for corporate employees (medical, dental, & vision), three weeks of PTO, 12 paid holidays, a modern office with amenities/snacks, and free parking for employees. Additionally, the in-office dress code is business casual/smart casual. The leadership team is in-touch with what matters to employees and they will actually smile and say hi when walking by. The leadership team contains a healthy blend of earlier career, mid-career, and later career executives. Many of the field employees are employed through HNN Communities which is the property management division of the business. There is a continuous effort to blend employee interaction between DevCo Corporate, DevCo US Construction, and HNN Communities (quarterly company-wide all-hands calls, company parties, etc.). The leadership team (often times the founder Jack) sends out weekly emails to all employees with an inspirational idea or message. Birthdays, employee anniversaries, and employee life events are all recognized by teams and departments. New hire emails are sent-out company-wide to make introductions to the new hires. There is an active effort to create a positive company culture.

Cons

Growing pains. Implementing new processes and procedures real time without a full understanding of what the outcomes will look like. Implementing systems/tools company-wide when the use case may not make sense for everyone.
