Pros

work can be interesting, good pension, flexible working (3 days in office)

Cons

hybrid and multi-location strategy not working - hard to connect and come together when some team members are in different places and you hardly meet up in person, additionally it is exhausting doing every single meeting on a screen. Most staff are in London but DfT's recruitment strategy discriminates against London-based staff in their recruitment policies, so you are not able to apply for promotions or moves that will be good for your career. Additionally, DfT appears to have lost it's way over the last five years, and while it was once highly professional and concerned about wellbeing, DfT management appears to have changed towards less concerned about wellbeing and a lot of excessive over-working taking place for some, while for others, management are not ensuring staff are fully occupied at times or not involving them enough if they are not senior enough. I have gone through significant overwork, and also under-utilisation, both of which are very bad for me.
