Pros

-The individual sales assistant teams tend to be very lovely and supportive. It's because we all have solidarity with each other due to the terrible company we're in. -The shop managers themselves are really reasonable! Unlike anyone senior to them. -The creativity of the brand is really easy to get behind. The original concepts and storytelling don't feel bland.

Cons

-Unpaid sick leave, except for days 4th to 7th where you get the measly Statutory Sick Pay. -No staff discount unless you have been working there 3+ months. -No staff discount on so many things the brand sells (limited editions, home decor, you name it) -To obtain staff discount you have to fill in a form detailing everything which then has to be approved by higher-ups. It's extremely patronising. -No holiday can be booked from October to January. -No holiday if your shop decides to do a sale, even if it's not any of the previously mentioned months. -No official grievance or complaint policy beyond "write to the Head of HR". Which is funny because often it's the head of HR that people have problems with. -Unpaid extra hours, as you are only paid for the time the shop is open yet you are supposed to do cleaning and sorting out everything before you can open it. -Unpaid lunch breaks. -No opportunities for progression. At all. -Once you pass your probation (3 months), if you want to leave you have to give a month's notice. But the company only needs to give you as many weeks notice as years you've been working for them. So they will only need to give you a month's notice if you've been with them for 4+ years. And if it's your first year? Good luck finding a job in a week. -Impossible to work there if you're disabled, visibly or invisibly. No provisions for wheelchair access (which also says much about the kind of client they are trying to appeal to). -Awfully low salary in a city like London (26000/annum) with its extremely high cost of living. -Unlikely chance of bonuses. -None of the creativity that the products were conceived with translates to the way management handles the actual day to day of the company. It is so clear that management only care about making money from rich clients, no matter what the product is, and shaking hands with celebrities and corporate clients. There is no thought for the normal every day staff.
