Pros

There are no pros to working at discord

Cons

Working at Discord was an absolute nightmare. Management is a disaster, making random decisions with zero transparency. The work environment is toxic, with rampant favoritism and zero inclusivity. Career growth? Forget it. Promotions are based on politics, not merit. Expect to work around the clock with no respect for personal time—burnout is guaranteed. The pay is a joke compared to the industry standards, and benefits are laughable. Projects are chaotic, with constant changes and impossible deadlines.

Pros

I love working at Discord. The people here are genuinely some of the smartest and most talented I've ever worked with, and the work we're doing is really motivating. There's strong focus across the company on what we're building, which makes everything feel purposeful. The culture is what really makes it special though. It's quirky in the best way—people are comfortable being themselves and bringing that energy to work every day. You get this awesome mix of people working really hard on things they care about while also just being real humans. It's rare to find that combination. We recently got a new CEO, and while he is a departure from our founder Jason in a lot of ways, but he seems to also deeply understand and embody the balance the company has sought to strike between fun and ambition, and that's really exciting. Also, the pay is fantastic.

Cons

Honestly, there aren't a lot of downsides. We're not public, so the equity piece of your comp isn't liquid. That's worth noting. Every now and then, parts of the work can feel a bit scrappier or more startup-y than you'd expect, but those instances are pretty rare. Most things are mature and well-built.
