Pros

Other than Friday and Saturday nights the hours were very flexible so it was easy to fit around other commitments such as full-time work, studying or childcare. It was also really easy to pick up extra hours as there was always someone who wanted to leave early or have the night off. There were plenty of opportunities for promotion, in the time I worked there I progressed from a team member to a store manager. I worked at 5 different stores and generally each one was a really friendly and welcoming environment to work in. You also got a free personal pizza or side per shift and up to 50% discount on food.

Cons

Everyone, including the store manager was on a zero-hour contract. Although working every Friday and Saturday night is to be expected, it still meant sacrificing your social life. As well as the hours being anti-social, they were also incredibly long. 14-hour shifts were a regular occurrence and it was commonplace to finish work anywhere between 1am and 5am then be expected back before 10am the same day. The long unsociable hours with little rest in between was bad enough but this was made worse by never having a break during your shift. Regardless of how long you worked, there was no allowance whatsoever for any employee to have a break. There was no overtime rate for working bank holidays, weekends or nights. Only a straight, flat rate of whatever the minimum wage was for your age. Managers were on slightly more, and I mean slightly more. Shift managers being on approximately 30p an hour above minimum wage. The managers on all levels from shift manager to area manager suffered from a distinct lack of training. There was very little in the way of leadership or guidance as your superior was often in the same position with thier superior. No one had any form of health and safety training, including first aid or fire marshalling and it was years before they even introduced a basic food hygiene course. Domino's is a franchise and let's be honest, you don't open a franchise to change the world or be a good employer. You simply do it to make as much money as possible. Most, if not all of the problems I've mentioned are purely down to greed. Poor pay, long hours, lack of training can all be rectified by investing more money into the business. I did the weekly profit and loss statements, I know they can afford it. With all that being said, I only worked for 2 different franchises so don't base your opinion on the entire of dominos on just my experience alone. But what I will say, is that the 2 separate franchises I worked for were incredibly similar.

Pros

Can be a fun environment. Can provide opportunities to make decent wage, highly dependand on the franchise you work for.

Cons

Some positions pay very low for the work they put in. This makes it harder to retain good employees to keep operations at optimal levels. Who wants to do 3 times the work as drivers for significantly less money?
