Pros
The best part of DoseSpot is the people (excluding management). Everyone genuinely wants to work hard and help their customers.
Cons
Before I accepted my role at DoseSpot, I came to Glassdoor and noted the negative reviews, but I dismissed them because they were both over two years old and I simply assumed that the negative reviews were just the growing pains associated with being a part of a small, growing company. However, all reviews on Glassdoor still hold true. So if you are thinking about joining DoseSpot, I urge you to not take these reviews lightly. Here are my five biggest reasons for leaving DoseSpot: 1. Management has a complete lack of acknowledgement, appreciation, or respect for employees. There is no formal introduction to the CEO or to the team when you start at DoseSpot. Often times new hires will start and you or your coworkers will not be aware of a new hire until the morning of their start date. It could take 1-2 weeks just to get a work laptop. Management will advertise “great benefits” to working at DoseSpot but then when you request to set up your SIMPLE IRA, management will completely ignore your emails – which leads me to my next point. 2. You will be ignored. Your emails will be ignored. Your requests for PTO will be ignored. Be prepared to constantly follow up with management just to get anything done or get anything approved. Management has no accountability. When you finally do get a response, it will be followed by an excuse of some sort. 3. There is a shockingly high turnover rate. I was only at this company for about 8 months, but I knew I needed to find another job within 3 months into my role. In my brief stint at this company, 5 people resigned. To put it into perspective, DoseSpot is a small company at only around 10-15 people. So when 5 people leave, that is at least 30% of the staff. Despite the loss of 5 employees, only 2 of them were replaced with new hires. That meant more work and responsibility for everyone that remained at the company. 4. There is a history of nepotism. Management has historically hired family-friends for leadership positions, and these family-friends are often severely underqualified. This results in a culture that is not meritocratic - simply working hard will not get you anywhere in this company. 5. Perhaps what is the most disappointing about DoseSpot is the lack of leadership. Leadership means fostering a relationship with everyone you work with. It is about empowering and trusting employees. It means owning up to mistakes and weaknesses, and working to constantly improve. Leadership means honesty and transparency. It is about being an example to other people, and inspiring them to be their best selves in the workplace. It is about honest, face-to-face conversations, and constantly providing constructive feedback and encouragement. Management at DoseSpot has displayed none of these, and that is perhaps the biggest reason for me leaving the company.
