Drift has built an incredible brand, has awesome customers and the people who work here are/were incredibly talented.
Cons
The Drift “house” is on fire and Vista Equity Partners is letting it burn, enabled by a leadership team who means well but can’t stand up to them. Our executives attempt to own the decisions they make but it is very clear who is running the show… follow the money. Drift laid off top performers, pushed the work on those remaining, are pushing a hypocritical RTO agenda after boasting about being early to digital first, and are slashing budgets against higher business targets. Their idea of a retention plan is suppressing career growth and refusing to invest any of the funding round they just got from Vista (so now they own even more) in the people who have stuck around. Not that the company can afford to hire, but if it could, I would advise anyone reading this to run in the opposite direction. The company is bleeding money and talent. It is incomprehensible that the true decision makers are so blind to the runaway train speeding toward a fiery crash and their “solutions” are adding grease to the rails. It is so unfortunate to watch what was a successful pre-IPO company and category creator fall so far, so fast… a victim of their own decisions.
