Pros

The job is really enjoyable and Matt and Ollie (driver liaisons in head office) are fantastic to work with but the pay for the hours worked is nothing other than exploitation.

Cons

Trade Plate Driver (Former Employee), Stoke, Staffordshire – 5 March 2022 ECR’s Trade Plate Drivers are made to be self employed for no other reason than to get around paying minimum wage, national insurance and holiday/sickness pay and ECR pay a measly £20 per job plus 0.18p per mile after the initial 60miles. They guarantee a minimum earning floor of £350 a week, which is still under minimum wage for the hours worked, and they’ll refuse to honour this in your last pay packet. They provide a company credit card to pay for travel expenses but find ingenious ways to claw back a proportion of these costs from the drivers they are already exploiting by way of admin fees, charging the VAT on fuel purchased if VAT receipts are not provided and the cost of the fuel if a vehicle is delivered with more fuel than instructed. All of these deductions are calculated on the remittance slip emailed on Tue/Wed and in order to be paid on the Friday an email agreeing to the remittance must be received otherwise payment will be withheld. They effectively force every driver to put in writing that they agree to the remittance even if they don’t to copper bottom ECR against future legal action. If you enjoy working long hours, putting yourself and other road users at risk due to the hours you’ll be working and ultimately earning significantly less than minimum wage then this is the job for you. If not, avoid at all costs and Google Law Firm Leigh Day taking legal action against ECR’s direct competitor BCA for exploiting their Trade Plate Drivers in exactly the same way.

Pros

You get to travel and see places you wouldn't normally go to.

Cons

Office staff rude to drivers. They don't care about you as a person. To save a minimal amout of cash I was made to wait for an electric car to slow charge as they were not willing to pay for s fast charge. I doddnt get home until 11.30pm. Pay deducted for minor issues that make little sense.
