We work in agile culture and associates are always encouraged to perform their assignments/jobs with freedom and flexibility. To meet project deliverable, at times associates may decide to stretch to complete their assigned deliverable but as management we have been taking measures to ensure that associates don’t burn out in the projects. For a smooth planning, associates are part of estimation planning phase as well before the start of projects. There are regular measures taken by the scrum masters and delivery management to ensure the deliverable are spread throughout the release and avoid crisis management and scope creep.
About hikes - the information is more perception than reality. At EPAM, we always believe in pay for performance, encourage and reward meritocracy as associates are always rewarded appropriately based on their performance in the company. Even our performance management system (Feedback) does not encourage relative performance and there is no bell curve. Feedback process enables 360 degree process where associates can choose and seek feedback from peers, team members, manager and even client. Apart from performance, we consider contribution towards org initiatives (being mentors, assessors in promotion process, contributing towards projects outside their work, CSR activities etc) as part of Comp reviews.
Regarding Management, we have added strength by hiring couple of leaders in the last 3 months who are adding muscle in strengthening delivery capabilities and people engagement.
