Management & Culture
- ESI breeds a high-school like environment, in that it's very clear the old dogs run things and play favorites. If you're looking to get ahead or work in a different way than they like, you're out of there. They will not work with you, you need to be prepared to bend to their will or be let go.
What's more frustrating is I had major challenges when I started because of the previous person's work. It was poorly designed and executed and needed a complete overhaul. There was no onboarding and when I asked for assistance or background information, no one could help me because they didn't even know and weren't willing to figure it out. I don't think anyone understood the challenge of the environment I was given. Definitely was not explained to me when I took the position. However, they were not concerned with my adjustment, only that I put bandaids over bullet wounds.
Bottom line: no one there actually cares about you, your work or value. Only that you get challenging tasks done on their timetable. Otherwise, you're gone. Perhaps that's why they use so many freelancers. They like to dispose people.
