Pros
- This is a good place to gain experience if you are a self-starter and resourceful
- Because it's a bit of a revolving door, opportunities for advancement can come quickly if you show you're capable.
- descent pay, descent benefits. if you're interviewing ask for a lot
- it's pretty easy to fly under the radar here. get your job done and you can come and go as you please.
Cons
- Not a lot of guidance, you're on your own even if you're doing something new. Have to know the right people to ask for help/direction. Sink or swim.
- Senior management values profit above all else. There is no client service to speak of. There is no concern for employee professional development and growth. You will not have opportunities for training etc... here that is not absolutely critical to your job performance.
- Last year over 20 people voluntarily left and over 20 people were terminated. This is a company of ~110 people.
- There is very low moral. Management feels quarterly free lunches will address this.
- They are a one-trick pony. They learned one client's management requirements and are only capable of implementing that. Cannot adapt to changing nature of work.
- Senior management is control heavy, as a middle manager your input is not sought, your role is to implement senior managements policies (which are rarely clear, documented, or appropriate to the nature of the work).
- In the vice president's words "this place is a sweatshop" Set boundaries or end up like the multiple staff that work 60+ hr weeks.
