Pros

I began working at Ecumenical as a Dining Room Server when I was 16; the management team was very good about working with me for school-related activities, as well as scheduling when I came back from college. The residents are fantastic people, and I so enjoy caring for them, even on their bad days. There are definitely challenges to working in healthcare; you have to be willing to move quickly and ask for/take direction from those who know more. As a Dining Room Server, the actual job is not difficult at all. You simply need to know and develop time management skills, which can and does take some time. As a college student, I have also had the opportunity to intern in the HR department , which was very educational in several ways. I primarily worked with the Dining Department, assisting in bringing in new hires to that department. I also sat in on meetings, searched/reached out to potential candidates for positions, and even created a referral plan for the campus. There are many opportunities to grow here, so long as you are willing to work for it. People, both residents and coworkers, notice the work that goes on, and it is not hard to tell who stands out.

Cons

If someone are not willing to work/move quickly, this will not be the place for you. You also have to be willing to communicate needs to management.
