Pros

I really like my team here, and they are probably my biggest reason for staying (at least for now). I think Eden (now Eden Workplace) has some promising ideas, including its pivot toward becoming an SaaS company. But (as you'll see in my comments further down), I don't have much confidence in the future of this company if it continues to be led by its current c-suite (especially CEO and CTO).

Cons

As some have mentioned in previous reviews, there's a clique-y "bro" culture at Eden Workplace, set from those at the very top. I worry about talent going unseen, wasted, or misapplied in this environment, because of its culture and the values that this leadership team embodies. Which brings me to this: The c-suite is not very experienced in leadership, and it shows. I think they mistake charisma and the ability to give rousing speeches, for the actual hard work of listening to staff, supporting them to address problems at their root, and forming a cohesive strategic vision that can actually be implemented. I hear a lot of good talk, and sometimes that can be energizing in the moment, but over time it becomes demoralizing because execution and change management is so poor. Even when I look at some of their responses to Glassdoor reviews, it's disorienting because that image they're trying to cultivate publicly - of being organized and responsive and strategic - just isn't the reality of working day-to-day here. I also think the c-suite's messaging around a massive round of layoffs last year - primarily layoffs of employees from the company we had just acquired - was incredibly misleading / opaque and broke a lot of trust with the team. Whether you kept your job or not, you just couldn't trust the leadership anymore.

Eden Response

This post was written by a competitor who wishes our company harm. This individual was never employed by Eden or Eden Workplace. The claims in this post are untrue. For example, the author claims a lack of diversity (1 out of 5 stars). In fact, 59% of our team is female, including over half of our executive team. In terms of team composition, 55% are diverse/underrepresented groups. In terms of team happiness on culture, recent surveys indicate that 100% of Eden employees feel their manager cares about them and over 80% feel that Eden’s values aligned with their personal values (and no employees disagreed). I hope readers do not give this false posting any credence. We do not believe that someone who has never worked at Eden has any basis for commenting on our culture. It is unfortunate that this platform is being used in a malicious way. We have requested Glassdoor to take it down. - Maryn Juergens, VP of People and Growth

Pros

- Friendly, ambitious, and driven coworkers - Benefits (unlimited PTO, snacks, budget for team bonding, dental/vision/medical) - A place where you can make an impact if you're liked by the right people

Cons

- Overwork/ no work life balance - Below market pay - No real career progression - No career mentorship - Round after round of layoffs - Pivots business model every 3-4 years Some horror stories: 1) CEO pushed out hired COO who was trying to create more structure as opposed to the existing fratty culture 2) Frequently allowing operations team to be verbally abused by clients 3) One particular manager who did not allow an employee to go to her mom's wedding and another employee to go get a checkup following a car accident 4) Underpays H1B employees, when they're already underpaid (some not breaking 6 figures for tech roles) 5) Promised job security only to fire more than half the company a week later
