Pros

1) You get to rub shoulders with some of Kuala Lumpur's rich and famous. Mostly rich, not so much on famous. 2) Free food on occasion. 3) You get prime seating spots at events and PR personnel will always prioritize you. 4) Sometimes you get very fancy free gifts (if upper management doesn't sneak them away for themselves at first sight). 5) Most of your colleagues are sweet and delightful people. Unless it's deadline week.

Cons

1) Favouritism, bullying (employer to employee) and shows of power are very common. Expect to hear upper management yelling and degrading employees. Don't even think of speaking up, you will be punished for it in very subtle ways to the point of driving you out of the company. They can and will make life so hard for you that you will just leave. May also potentially backstab you to your future employers. 2) Upper management has a tendency to steal gifts sent to individual writers for attending events or hiding items from brands who send them to be reviewed. They will claim they never saw it despite the PR from brands showing receipts stating the time and date of delivery as well as the name of the person who received said parcel of items. 3) Frequent invasions of privacy. Employees are given their own desk and set of drawers. Under no circumstances are you to keep personal belongings inside or on either one as they will be periodically ransacked depending on the mood of the upper management. Items will also be thrown away at her discretion without prior approval from owner of belongings. You will simply go off on a holiday and come back to find them missing. That set of drawers will also have their keys confiscated. You'll have no chance to lock anything. 4) Parcels sent to the office will be ripped open and inspected before being deposited on your desk without so much as an apology. We're talking personal parcels here which are very obviously not job-related. Why do we send parcels to the office? Well, if your job requires you to be in office from 9am to 6pm (if you're lucky) or even 11pm then who exactly is supposed to receive your parcel for you? Never mind that you will likely have to attend events on weekends as well and thus leaving no time for you to head to the post office. 5) Upper management wears two-faced better than Juno can. They can and will act sweet in front of guests before turning around and treating you like trash. 6) No increments given. Even if they are, they are begged for and waited on for years before being doled out in measly sums usually. Bonuses are usually given at the whim and fancy of the upper management. 7) You will only be promoted if you have no life, no family and no hopes or dreams for yourself. Be a mindless, boot-licking robot and you will make it in this company. 8) There is no work-life balance. Expect to enter at 9am sharp and never leave. It's the Hotel California of publishing companies. Don't even think about leaving at 6pm sharp despite what your contract says because the upper management will give you hell for it. 9) Need to go on medical leave? Only one day of MC unless you're in labour. Never mind if you're running a dangerously high fever, cannot work because your medication causes drowsiness or if you have very contagious pink-eye because hey, work is more important than anyone's life or health. 10) Management will snitch on you. Be wary. There are spies in the office. Would not be surprised if there were spy cams too. Have personally seen someone accessing a colleague's desktop to attempt to view what websites she has open and read her Whatsapp. 11) Weekend work compensation is in no way fair. 3 working Saturdays = 1 day off. 2 working Sundays = 1 day off. 12) You can and will be contacted at all odd hours by superiors despite it not being a working day. You cannot choose to ignore it as you will be reprimanded. They expect you to say yes to everything. 13) To err is human but not in this company.

Pros

the approachable workmates and leaders

Cons

At first, they will tell you it's a full-time job, but it's really more of a freelance type of job. You will be paid based on output.
