The sales compensation plan was the biggest downside of my experience. Compared with other data center and infrastructure providers, payouts on every deal was significantly below market. Based on my research and conversations with current industry professionals, compensation on comparable opportunities was generally much more favorable elsewhere.
The company also capped commissions on individual deals, which significantly limited upside for large deals. As a result, reps closing large contracts could earn many times less than peers at competing providers for similarly sized opportunities. Even a standard deal that wasn't capped would result in many times less than competitor compensation at times. In my opinion, the compensation structure did not adequately reward the value of the business being generated and was a meaningful disadvantage compared to other employers in the data center industry.
