It's really nice to be in an academic environment, around a diversity of people, many intelligent people and esteemed professors, and it's nice to have job stability/security
Cons
it is very difficult to get promoted, human resources is a total nightmare (disorganized, nonresponsive, slow), there are too many incompetent employees, it is very difficult to find someone who can answer any questions you have
