Pros

Teaches important lab skills and work management skills that will benefit your future job.

Cons

Management is very poor. The culture is to focus on the company(aka management and higher ups) and to use the underlings to their breaking point. The pay is low for the industry and state, but that should be expected for an entry level job that requires no experience or degree. But they keep you there, unless you are a favorite. The idea is constant that the job is amazing and the pay is justified as awesome and very little is given to advancement. There are a few lateral moves available that are ok at best. For the most part, the work is all the same. The work is repetitive, mind numbing without any change except for high expectations. The management only wants higher productivity and efficiency without fair compensation. The instrumentation and software is very outdated, but it stays in place and the base employees are expected to compensate for all of the issues that arise naturally. The level of complacency of its just how it is really drains your spirit. The more you go above and beyond, the more management set that as your baseline. You might get a good job once in a while and nothing else. The retirement is pretty non-existent. They have a 401k which they don't match and a employee stock ownership plan which is really just a tax shelter for the company and doesn't do much of anything for the employee because the company isn't very successful against the large national companies. Get your experience and get out and on to better job and company.

Pros

The people are awesome! They care about each other and come together to help each other out. A new supervisor was promoted to the Inorganics department who is very knowledgeable and cares about the team. When errors happen the supervisors focus on how to improve the process or help the team know their job better instead of who to blame. The company supports people volunteering their time to help in the local schools and support local fundraising events like the Children's Run and the Women's run. There's opportunity to learn lots of different instrumentation and techniques. The company puts a focus on cross training in multiple areas which allows for variety. The supervisors have people learning new techniques. A lot of the instrumentation is automated due to the amount of samples.

Cons

In the summer there's a heavy work load and the work can sometimes get monotonous.
