Pros
I've worked here for several years. Much of what I like about this company I credit to the people that work here. We strive to create a positive work environment. The work is challenging, but the senior staff goes above and beyond to teach the newer staff. There is a great sense of team here, where we try our best to help one another out and make sure no one is left feeling overwhelmed. The group here really cares about one another and I can see how the dynamic has changed over the years especially within the administrative staff. They have really helped shape this place into the friendly and fun company that it is today. I feel that as a direct result of the administrative/management changes, turnover has dropped dramatically over the years. The holiday parties (Halloween pot luck and end of the year celebration) are a lot of fun and show the sense of friendship in this group. The summer BBQ is always a lot of fun and the cooking (done by one of the partners) is always top notch. Regarding workload, as with any job, from time to time late hours are required but that is by no means the norm. I enjoy my lunch break daily and most often find myself working the standard 8:30 to 5:30. The few occasions that I choose (notice I stay choose) to work late do not go unnoticed. Some deadlines are fast paced but the group always works together to get through it. This company also encourages growth. When someone is eager to gain more knowledge the senior staff and management are both positive and helpful. They recognize improvement and generously reward it. I find the salary and benefits to be quite competitive when compared to other mid-sized MEP engineering organizations. However, this is only a small portion of what someone who succeeds here would be looking for. They would also be looking for the quality of life benefits that you don't get on paper.
Cons
If a person prefers to work independently and does not enjoy working in a collaborative environment, this company is not going to be a good fit. Sometimes the building is too hot.
