Pros

People in tranches are generally very nice.

Cons

- CEO is responsible for two large waves of redundancies in less than 2 years. The one in May 2022 had 114 people go. CEO admitted that it was solely his decision. - Leadership team is a friend group, which supports each other to hold on to their jobs in the expense of others - leadership team isn’t transparent about their decision making, despite this being one of the “values” of Envato culture. - Product direction changes every year, depending on the market. This process involves restructure and redundancies. - Despite claiming that they are remote company, only folks in Melbourne actually benefit from working at Envato. All meetings are scheduled in Melbourne time zone. Melbourne folks also benefit from in office activities that everyone else miss out on. Supposed “back to base” event that brings everyone together hasn't happen in a few years. - if you want to join Envato, keep in mind that you can loose your job in a few months. As the last wave of redundancies shows, they really don’t care if you’ve been there for 10 years or 10 months, you get the same treatment. - some people who worked there for many years didn’t even get a goodbye card after being made redundant for no other reason as “restructure due to the market changes”. - leadership team does not take responsibility for their mistakes, blaming everything and everyone else, including war in Ukraine, covid and competitors.

Pros

Envato was founded by some of the most generous and thoughtful people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They're an organization that absolutely practices what it preaches from a corporate and social culture standpoint, and they truly do care about their employees. I've been proud to have been part of it for so many years.

Cons

It's difficult to pinpoint a true con with Envato. Outside of the typical friction that arises with any growing company that experiences focus shifts and reorgs, there's nothing specifically negative that I could speak to.
