Pros
--Well resourced --Invests significantly in summer programming for the strongest students --Wonderful teachers and staff --AWESOME KIDS in a really lovely community --Terrific school space (one of the best in the city) --Incredibly supportive of alumni who are now in high school and college ---Omg the kids are SO GREAT!!
Cons
--Trying to become Success Academy or KIPP and thus expanding far too rapidly given its perennial short-staffedness. --Test scores in math and ELA are the ONLY thing that matters. --Wants nothing but test prep and above all OBEDIENCE out of teachers. -- Not receptive to teachers' ideas or anything else except "how high would you like me to jump and for how long?" --Profoundly dysfunctional and disorganized. --Poor communication and lack of leadership breeds anxiety, toxicity, cliquishness among and otherwise lovely staff. --Traffics in standard charter school anti-Blackness/Brownness with its "broken windows" (seriously) approach to discipline. --High test scores reduce students to products 'sold' to donors and state funders for more money like every other charter school on earth --Children of administrators basically participate in the performance reviews of teachers.
