I was hired onto a large project based section 8 apartment with zero experience in any type of apartment management. I made it very clear to the interviewers I didn’t have experience in this type of management, and had never dealt with evictions. My supervisor said they would train me, so I took this job. They ended up going on vacation about a couple weeks into my hiring, and left me without an assistant manager. During this time, we were hit with a state Audit, and I was left alone to fix resident files that were an absolute mess.
After several months of working tons of overtime to get a passing score on the audit, things began to fall apart at the property since I didn’t have an Assistant. I was let go, and was extremely confused. I asked if they could at least give me a demotion, so I can actually learn the trade, but declined.
My supervisor fired me I order to dump all the blame on me. They literally tried to ruin my life, as finding another job with this experience on my resume was almost impossible. I literally have PTSD from this experience, and I feel for anyone that gets a job with my previous supervisor.
