Pros
No weekends, paid holidays, flexible scheduling. If you don't have a degree, this could be your best opportunity for a career with advancement opportunities.
Cons
Pay, pay structure, benefits (cost), GMs, advancement opps. Base pay is incredibly low, the structure is far too margin based (many stores have national accounts which have locked in discounts), was told to go make myself a raise, benefits are pricey for what's offered and not all that stellar, GMs are basically glorified salesmen, not necessarily good leaders, rather folks who have bought in to Fastenal and had good sales numbers. You are not given a raise, almost ever, unless you sell more (not a raise), or move up a position. Getting past GM is difficult, and may take longer than 5 years, good luck with that.
