Pros
Fedex Office provides an excellent work environment. I've been with the company for 13 years, so I've been through all the corporate shakeups. Now that Fedex is the owner, there is a steady hand at the helm. They have a vision where they want the company to go, and they are investing the time and the capital to get it there. The work environment, the physical layout, within the branches is very nice, and a good reason for staying. However, that can vary from one store to the next. Good communication, both lateral and vertical. Good benefits, but this year's health plan options did not include a middle tier. Very competitive 401k. Very low turnover on employees.
Cons
Pay, at least at the branch levels. The work is semi-skilled, you're definitely doing more than digging ditches, but because it does not require a degree or professional certificate, they can afford to keep wages low. The amount of knowledge you're expected to learn, retain, and recall... plus the stress of the job... all that compared to what you get paid... the wages really don't bear out. I get by all right, don't worry about rent or my next meal, but any sort of emergency in my personal life would bury me financially. This is a fine job if you're still in college or have a two-income household, but a single adult living alone will struggle a bit.
