Pros
Pros, you get to work with some great people, setting aside their crushed spirits. Head of Accounts is a gem of a woman. The antiques team, admin, photography, postage are all kind and helpful, as well as many of the jewellery and watch team. You also do get to see interesting items that are in the Auctions.
Cons
The twins....Colleagues have been reduced to tears by them more times than I can count. They are given free reign to speak to both customers and colleagues in any way they see fit. Their main tactic is to belittle their target in front of other people, this would happen over Slack, Email and in person. Even if you're lucky enough to not be a direct target, you will be a frequent witness to the constant abuse. The CEO knows about this problem, evident through all the other reviews left here on Glassdoor over the years, yet does nothing to protect his team, in my opinion that is the sign of poor leadership. He himself is known for temper tantrums. Aside from bullying, as the company is small there is not much room for development or progression. Salary is mediocre, even considering that the auction industry generally doesn't pay especially well (in my opinion you should at least get a bonus to pay for the therapist you will have to hire if you accept this job.) Ultimately, team members are stretched far too thin, likely due to the amount of people who leave the company due to bullying from the twins. It is unacceptable for a workplace to function this way, I have worked at Auction Houses previously so I understand that they can be stressful environments and the industry can be tough but this was truly the worst I have ever seen. I hope everyone who is still working there currently there can someday get to experience a workplace that values and respects them.
