Pros

Great people to work/bank with depending on the branch. Client-facing role can feel rewarding if you truly want to make a difference. Great entry level job into banking.

Cons

Development within the company is hit or miss, quite a bit of nepotism and external hires that will promotion jump you. You can be ranked #1 for several years and receive no promotion. Changes in bonus structure promote unethical lending/products to clients who may not be in need. If you do not sip the Kool-Aid you will be left behind, despite how your numbers look.

Pros

Great team environment, perfect entry level career for anyone in college pursuing a role in finance.

Cons

Fifth Third Bank has been undergoing significant changes on its staffing as some regions currently have seen a lot of upward momentum in promotions and hiring for internal roles. Expect there to be a brief period of short staffing, depending on the branch you are hired for.

Pros

Depending on your team, you can meet some wonderful people.

Cons

Lay off culture is real. If you want a promotion, you better be super friendly with management because that’s the only way you move up. Management is generally awful. Most departments are super toxic. I had one promotion during my time and was told it was coming so many times. Forget getting a decent pay.
