Pros

Great middle management - the folks that were here pre-VC / Lewendowski are good people that actually care about the well-being of their employees and their career successes - that humanizes what is otherwise a cut-throat, terrible work environment.

Cons

The executive leadership that was brought in by the VC is a complete nightmare. They do not understand how to run this company, and they care little about the success & happiness of their employees. Jim Lewendowski attempts this facade of "all is well, and this is a great company full of great talent and great product." The only truth in that is great people, but they are sadly leaving left and right by either internal attrition or better external opportunity. The internal morale is dismal, and the partner and vendor alliance community all see a disaster at present and ahead.

Thanks for your feedback. There is no "facade" about all is well. The facts are that over 1000 customers have chosen FireMon and there are many dedicated employees working hard to build a great company. We realize that with change comes many challenges. Our challenges are exciting to some and for others they are very unnerving. Although we go to great lengths to find people that fit with our mission when hiring, sometimes we make mistakes. Given your feedback it is unlikely that you are able to volunteer your best work at FireMon so I encourage you to speak up and we will help you find a better spot.

Pros

Nearly everyone I've worked with has been knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Work-from-home policy is a huge perk. Interesting and growing market.

Cons

We get in our own way a lot. At least in engineering, we seem to be stuck in a startup mentality even though the company has grown past that – we don't have well-defined roles to help with career progression, and sometimes work assignments, requirements, and deadlines feel like the wild west. Also, good luck keeping up with inflation. It is difficult to get any meaningful raises even while the company is making more money than it ever has.
