Pros

I’m giving 5 stars because I can genuinely see positive change and feel optimistic about the future of the business. That said, I want to be honest—this past year has not been the best. There was a noticeable drop in morale, and at times it felt like people had lost passion for the company’s goals. The recent reviews here reflect that reality quite accurately. This business has some fantastic customers, but in such a competitive market, they will only continue to stay if they are happy. And to keep customers happy, you need a team that brings energy, care, and genuine passion for the environmental mission. Over the past year, that hasn’t always been easy to see. The people who stayed through this period clearly care deeply about the company. That has certainly been my experience—those who remained truly believe in First Mile, even when morale was low. The reason for my 5-star rating is the direction things are now heading. Management has started to take meaningful steps to improve the culture. The new bonus scheme looks promising, and the new CFO comes across as a humble and genuinely good person. These are strong signals that the company is moving in the right direction.

Cons

The past year has been challenging, with low morale and a noticeable drop in engagement across teams. At times, there was a lack of clear direction and consistent motivation, which impacted the overall energy of the workplace. Overtime has not always been fairly recognised, and more could be done to reward and retain those who remained committed during tougher periods.

Agree comms between departments can improve. Having cross department teams like the Green Team launching will help along with our new social plan. Please let me know if you have more ideas, very open to them :-)

Pros

Most of the people are kind, helpful and fun to be around

Cons

A new CEO gave a hopeful future for the company. Until it was announced it is publicly shamed ex-CEO of South West Water - Susan Davy. Susan has a historical track record of assisting South West Water in polluting waterways with sewage, making over 150 people sick and needing to pay out millions in damages and fines. What kind of b-corp company would hire someone with such a track record? Whilst this is happening, the rest of the C-suite are happily using company money to get trashed and allow managers to make obscene racist jokes. Everyone not in the C-suite is underpaid and overworked. There is no one person who isn’t burnt out and often people leave with nothing lined up. In a recession, people are left with no choice to stay and tolerate such a stressful environment.
