Pros

Really exciting product with lots of commercial potential. There is a good network of colleagues with open minds, fresh ideas and expertise to offer.

Cons

Very high staff turnover, particularly in commercial functions of the business. Senior commercial managers are very set in their ways and closed to new ideas. Lots of internal micro management which creates unhelpful diversions and delays in projects. As a 'family business' there is very little diversity and inclusion, particularly in senior management and near zero opportunity for career progression. Top level decisions are often made by senior staff in secrecy with no communication with other stakeholders in the business until the last minute. Staff benefits are stripped back to bare minimum and there is no encouragement for in-person socials or team building. The working culture is built on always very last minute projects and tasks set with unrealistic deadlines.

Pros

Empathetic leaders, a wonderful team and a truly fabulous product. I had autonomy over my role, creative freedom to run with ideas and lots of opportunities for progression. I felt nurtured and supported by leadership and the business became like a family to me. There are lots of opportunities for collaborations across teams, with external partners and with in person events - a great place to learn lots and develop as a marketeer. My favourite place I have worked in my career to date.

Cons

There is no sales team so, at times, this could be quite stressful on marketing with ambitious targets.

Pros

Colleagues are dedicated and hard working.

Cons

Management are confused an ineffective and have an incoherent, poorly communicated strategy. Owners are generally knee-jerk in their priorities. The board and SLT are too scared to challenge them which creates a stressful environment as they have little awareness of the effort required to carry out most functions. Staff work long hours with very little reward outside their salary. The fact that the company lists statutory entitlements as a job benefit should tell you all you need to know,
