Pros
- Often they will get you training and pay for it (you will have to pay them for it if you leave) - When there is overtime pay it can be decent pay - Very easy to see the impact you have on people's lives
Cons
- On call 24/7 once every few weeks - Hauling moldy couches up went stairs is physically demanding - Dirty, dangerous, smelly job sites - Handling dangerous materials like melted glass, soot covered asbestos, rotten food sludge - Inconsistent instructions and expectations that change often and are usually not communicated - Expectation of arriving early and starting work early and being available after work - Workplace is mostly people who have already worked in restoration for years at various other companies and you are often expected to already know how things work
