Pros

Nice group of people (mostly). Decent office locations. Really nice health benefits.

Cons

* Hard deadlines with hard feature sets are the norm here, resulting in long hours/weekend working to meet deadlines. Fixmo seems to think they use 'agile methods' though, so there seems to be some confusion about what 'agile' actually means here. Just because they use JIRA and have daily standups does not mean they do agile dev. * Large army of QA people to do rote manual testing; Fixmo would benefit greatly from spending the time to automate a lot of this, and then save money on salaries by reducing their QA staff by at least half, if not more. * QA people are frequently omitted from daily standups. Dev standups don't always take place either. * Automation of QA tasks is brought up occasionally, but the approach that is being used is to have the devs setup the infrastructure and make it so that people who have no programming ability will be able to write tests. As a result, this task keeps getting pushed back and never completed. * QA focus is all about the numbers: what percentage of manual tests have passed, and frequent gaming of the numbers to meet numbers set by PM team. Many of the manual tests are not maintained effectively, or are largely useless. * UI design is done by the Product Managers. There is more than one, so the UI is terribly inconsistent, with frequent questionable workflows, making the software not very intuitive. * Frequent siloing of information: very few things are documented in a wiki (or any other area that is easily accessible/editable by employees) so it's very common to have to go talk to a specific person to figure out how to do a particular thing. * There are people in management/team lead positions that do not have the skills necessary to manage other people; this lack of skills is acknowledged by peers/upper management, but nothing is done to correct the problem. * There have been people who work here who are just not pleasant to deal with. Hiring of the 'wrong person' personality wise does happen, but there doesn't seem to be a method to get rid of these people so that everyone else doesn't have to be subjected to them. End result is that (good) people end up leaving to get away. * Open concept office means you can hear the CEO yelling at his sales staff (which happens pretty regularly). * Layoffs happened just before the holiday break last year; this is terrible for company morale. * Office is very cramped; kitchen is tiny with a small seating area, but there are no windows in the room.

Pros

Variety of projects ranging from server side Dev to client side android and iOS Dev. There is also a focus on security. Learned a lot about how to design software with security in mind.

Cons

Two months into the internship, the company was bought out by Good Technology so I had to scrap my previous project.
