Pros
Culture is great. Lots of opportunities.
Cons
Teams in different timezones can sometimes be tricky
Pros
- Exposure to agile working and agile project management, which is great for building experience. - Flexible working hours in principle (though not always respected in practice). - Opportunity to learn a lot quickly in a small, growing company.
Cons
- Agile working can be a double-edged sword: while it helps you learn fast, it can also lead to staff being overworked without proper incentives or rewards (more an issue with individual managers than the company overall). - "Flexible working" is advertised, but in practice some managers still expect a strict 9–5 presence regardless of results. - Promotions often appear to be based on tenure or relationships rather than performance. - Bonus and incentive structures are unclear and low, even when exceeding expectations. - The “family” culture can feel uncomfortable at times, with oversharing of personal life. - Career growth opportunities look good on paper but are limited in reality.
Pros
In the majority of roles there is a lot of autonomy to work with customers and to problem solve The business does seem to understand the value of working from home and flexibility for staff members Reasonably fast paced business that has employed a good number of food industry professionals to ensure that their clients requirements are understood Strong supporters of charitable work with regular events in offices and encouraging staff to volunteer International working potential with roles in UK, Australia and United States.
Cons
Lack of transparency around level of bonus being achieved and infrequent pay rises Pathway for promotion is in place however training opportunities not always available and often lack of clarity on why some team members will be offered and not others. Team 'banter' can sometimes cross the line in to bullying and a senior manager was heard to refer to a colleagues maternity leave as 'an extended holiday' without much consideration that it was quite inappropriate. As the business has grown the company structure has become more complex and external hiring seems to have become the norm more so than internal promotions Variable workload means there are high pressure times Internal projects often become neglected even when they will have long term wider benefits
