1. Dishonesty: San Jose Engineering leadership misled many of us to believe that our options were worth far more. – Given his knowledge of Forescout finances, it was irresponsible of him to exaggerate pre-IPO valuation. We were on the outside and had no idea of the company’s actual situation - many of us gave up valuable stock and bonuses to join. 2. Boring technology: US engineering doesn’t develop any core tech – we mostly do system integration. A lot of time spent debugging API issues with external companies who are much bigger and care less about tiny Forescout. Overall - bad career move if you wish to advance technically. (Two chief architects have quit within the past year.) 3. Politics: The original team was forced out when engineering leadership consolidated power. The knowledge we lost is irreplaceable.
