Pros
Decent pay considering I was a trainee. Good hours/location. Worked with some great people.
Cons
Although the pay, hours and location are enticing… don’t be fooled. There is very little training. As a trainee on about 4/5£ph less, you are expected to make the same parts (at times more complex parts) at the same speed and quality as experienced laminators who have been there nearly 10 years. There is no development, they don’t care about you. They will take trainees on for no other reason than cheap labour. Always running out of material and consumables because the company haven’t paid their bills and nothing runs smoothly at Formaplex, it’s all over the place. They focus too much on petty things like not allowing water bottles in the clean rooms, but will turn a blind eye to staff taking 45min/hour long lunch breaks when we are only allowed 30. There is practically no space for staff to sit down and eat lunch. They don’t provide tea/coffee/milk/sugar for staff so if you want it you have to buy it yourself. Good work rarely gets praised but you’ll sure know about it if you mess up. The place is very unclean and messy. They need to invest in some decent cleaners that actually know how to clean. Or just rip the whole place down and start again. Now I’ve worked at a different place it’s really opened my eyes as to how s**t Formaplex is and how poorly it’s run. You won’t get far working there unless you’re friends with the higher ups. There is so much more I could say but I’d end up writing a novel. Just don’t work here. Not worth anyone’s time or effort.
