They aren't doing well, you might get laid off - Manufacturing Production Employee Fortis Solutions Group Employee Review

Pros

There's some flexibility when you need to take time off, occasional free food (maybe twice a quarter), paid regular wages on time, local management is friendly. Full time employees receive health benefits. Opportunity for overtime. It's a pro if you're happy with mandatory overtime but a con if you are not.

Cons

The recent changes at Fortis have made it a very demoralizing experience to work there. For one thing you're paid peanuts in most locations (what would be considered minimum wage in many states). When employees are asked to submit feedback and questions for the corporate quarterly update the employees concerns are dismissed. When benefits were addressed as being too expensive for many of their employees when on a family plan, Fortis proceeded to say that their benefits were excellent and were above industry standard. Not only is this untrue, but it invalidated what the employees were saying and made submitting questions and feedback a pointless process. Why ask for feedback if you don't want it? also to give an example as to why Fortis is not currently a good place to work and not appear just biased, every quarter employees used to receive a bonus or extra percentage of the profit share. Employees looked forward to this. Last quarter corporate decided that only plants that did better this quarter than last year in sales would receive any money. Corporate shut down a few plants a couple of months ago and laid off employees because of the economy. They said that a couple of plants, including mine, would be taking over the work these closed plants had. this meant our plant would be bringing in close to a million dollars extra. this added a lot of extra workload and required production employees to work overtime for weeks. Were we rewarded? No. We were told by local management that we would be paid our quarterly bonus today but corporate sent an email today saying we would not get a bonus because we didn't make as much money as last quarter. Be advised that we are one of the highest grossing Fortis plants in the country, and we all worked overtime to make up for a plant that closed. They did pay a quarterly bonus to underperforming plants that did better this quarter than last. So, they rewarded poorer performing plants and punished their highest earners because we couldn't make even more this quarter due to the economy. They set us up to be excited for a bonus and the day of the bonus told us we wouldn't get it, and then in the email, told us to work hard so Fortis can succeed. Extremely demoralizing and offensive. The harder we work, the less we get. Other plants get our bonuses. I would not recommend working here. There seems to be a divide between office workers and production employees, especially at corporate level.

Pros

Company has a lot of potential with many talented employees

Cons

Poorly run company with frequent management changes and poor communication from upper management to lower level employees. The company motto is “Fortis One” and upper management definitely is focused on one thing and it’s not quality, it’s not customer service, and it’s definitely not employee morale. The one thing they do focus on is profit and growth. Employees feel like they are just a number, Pay is below industry standard for most positions and pay raises average 3% annually. Production employees frequently work 7 days a week. Customer satisfaction is low
