Pros

You can expense a lot of things, free health care, 401K match.

Cons

None of the ML/AI Companies in this incubator are real. The 2 guys in charge have a sales pipeline of fortune 1000 companies, but this results in corporate consulting projects and no real incubator companies. You will be doing 100% consulting work, in a consulting culture, led by 2 previous consultants. There is no diversity, and the blatant sexism in the office will probably keep it that way. They will treat you as any expendable employee at any consulting firm. The main selling point of a startup incubator is the diversity in equity you are given. Not only do many employees feel purposefully bamboozled about their equity, but I don't know of a single experienced engineer who believed it would EVER be worth anything. Working at Foundry, you will be doing consulting projects and being told you are building companies. There is a reason why every senior/experienced engineer has left.

Thank you for the candid feedback to consider as we continue to grow and shape our company. We are glad to hear that our benefits were a highlight of working at Foundry but saddened that your overall time on our team wasn’t what you had envisioned. We take the subjects you've raised seriously, especially equity and diversity in the workplace. As we continue to expand, we are intentional in our goal to improve our exposure to more diverse applicant pools. We have more work to do in that regard but are proud of the strides that we, as a company, have made in improving gender diversity and the growth of our POC team members. We’ve always aimed to create highly competitive compensation packages, and what we offer today has been thoughtfully crafted to provide both long and short-term value. It’s our philosophy that employees deserve stakes in the businesses they’re making, and we achieve this through equity. More fundamentally, we offer our employees equity because of how highly we value it. In fact, equity makes up the majority of our senior executives’ compensation packages. Developing the existing AI/ML-powered software solutions offered by Foundry and its operating companies is core to what we do. In addition to this, our unique business model enables us to selectively work with executives to target unaddressed business challenges and bring entirely new technology to bear. This part of the Foundry model, called ‘launch partnerships,’ often requires technical staff to iterate between code and the strategic problem that code is trying to solve. It's our goal to make this incredibly transparent in hiring to help grow a team that is excited to tackle both sides of the Foundry business model, including aspects somewhat similar to consulting. We’re thankful for your contributions to the team and wish you the very best of luck in your next role!

Pros

If you learn by getting your hands dirty, this is an ideal place to learn everything in the tech stack and how huge companies think about making decisions with data. Strong startup culture allowing for early ownership of work and making changes to how the company operates No-one is a cog in the number-generating machine. People in Data and Software roles are also heavily involved in designing the work they do Great for senior technical staff who want more ownership and to engage in continual development unhindered by the slow response time of an enterprise company. Great place for generalists who could solve operational problems, write code, or do deep research. Lots of funding and diverse stock options make this a low-risk high-reward startup. People get to work on portfolio companies as suits their skills and interests A lot of time with the company founders allows staff to learn a lot about how 30+ year tech & C-suite veterans operate.

Cons

We are very focused on the best next-step in each AI system, and getting better results every week. While this is good (and a breath of fresh air for anyone who has watched a larger company stagnate), there is room for us to get more benefit from long-term research tasks or formalising our internal knowledge to help new hires learn faster. The most senior technical staff are stretched thin. They do great work and are supportive of their teams, but they each have FAR more than a full-time roles' worth of responsibility.
