Pros
Due to the lack of professionalism and concern for patients, the doctor/practice owner will let you do anything without any experience with minimal supervision. You may walk out of the hospital unsure if you know the right things or not, but at least you have the hands-on experience (very important as a veterinary technician).
Some staff members are fantastic; however, (there's a high turnover rate, and) a lot of hires aren't thoroughly interviewed. You end up working with people that have poor work ethic and poor skills/knowledge in the field.
Cons
Extremely poor pay. Veterinarian/practice owner has extreme anger issues and is a poor veterinarian. You will be witness to many malpractices and upset pet owners. Once the veterinarian dislikes you, you will be the center of his anger throughout your shift.
No one is rewarded for good performance, extra care with clients or patients, or a job well done - therefore, very little people even care about the work they produce. It's all about keeping under the doctor's radar.
