Pros

Used to be a business that was full on but collaborative, supportive and driven

Cons

Business went through considerable change when the new open reach CEO turned up. Culture changed over night with C-Suite all disappearing within 3 months and more recently stories of a large amount of heads of walking out. Culture is oppressive, negative, finger pointing. New open reach / BT leaders dont take any accountability, just blame others to shift focus. There is no attempt to integrate GN staff with new open reach staff. The values of the business have been thrown out of the window. Performance across the business is in serious decline, and leadership decisions are either non existent or constantly changed, staff are afraid to offer their thoughts and are confused about what to do, the business is in paralyses. Bullying, belittling is rife through the business, and staff are “told” to be in the office 5 days a week although Hybrid working is in everyone’s contracts.

Pros

Flexible with working arrangements. Direct manager and team are great to work with.

Cons

When I joined the company was vibrant and engaging, all of that has been gutted to create a soul destroying shell of a company. I have witnessed two painful periods of redundancy where poor business planning has caused a direct impact on people’s personal lives which has been extremely disheartening. There has been a recent lack of even pretending to care about any sort of personal growth or progression within the company. The post you apply for is the one you will stay at. Systems and processes completely fly in the face of any generic mental health awareness posted in the company portal and weekly updates. The tools in which we rely on to do our basic day to day jobs lack the adequate support and funding to even be useful. Processes are non existent and some teams simply lack the ability to discuss solutions within themselves. There is a culture of spinelessness within the company because any concerns raised are ignored or suppressed meaning people eventually lose any will to fight or stand up for something they disagree with or just to have an honest discussion. The lack of even addressing the fact there is no yearly wage increase is deeply troubling. Everyone is effectively worse off year on year.
