Cons
The 1 star reviews written on this site are true: this company is a living hell. Please don’t make the mistake I did thinking that you could give it a go, joining GKN has been a huge regret for me. I am actually amazed that a company can be this bad, especially an aerospace company - I always thought this industry would be kept up to a high standard and organised. I was wrong… First of all, the job that I got had nothing to do with the job description in the advertisement I applied for. So watch out when joining for a manufacturing role - you could be given any kind of work. You can also be moved around frequently as happened in my case. And if you do not like the job you are given, the management might tell you that you are easily replaceable, as they told me. There is no job security at all in GKN, I've seen so many people let go for one reason or another. There is no stability and you just never know what's going to happen next. What makes it worse is the constant lies from the management. They give out promises that things at GKN will improve, they picture you a better working environment just for you to stay and work for them a little bit longer. Time after time, after time I was lied to and let down by GKN. I realised they do not care for improvement and are not delivering on their promises. In my experience, if you need anything from this company, even the simplest requests take months to sort out (even a year and more in some cases - unfortunately I am not kidding). Any simple matter turns into an unresolvable challenge for the management at GKN and you just feel like a fool waiting and waiting. A lot of times while working here I felt like the managers have a very little idea of what is going on in the company, how the processes work, what materials we use etc. Overall just such a frustrating experience, please save yourself some nerves and do not repeat my mistake!
