Pros
Great team of fun, hardworking girls
Cons
This was, without question, the worst work experience I have ever had. The founder of this company presents herself as a beacon of female empowerment in the beauty industry, but the reality could not be further from the truth. I would strongly advise anyone against accepting a job here, especially young women. The founder, who also manages day-to-day operations with her partner, has created an incredibly toxic work environment. Pay is already low compared to many other salons in the city, and on top of this, she expects employees to do extra work without compensation. When questions or concerns are raised, they are met with defensiveness, retaliation, or just total silence. I can vouch that many former employees have had similar experiences. The turnover rate speaks for itself. Communication is erratic at best. Emails and messages were consistently ghosted or pushed off for weeks at a time. There is no reliable program for training or growth. Frankly it’s hard to understand how this business continues to operate under this disorganization. All this to say, during most of my time there I felt anxious and unsupported at work. There is a pattern here: she hires young women, promises opportunities, showers compliments, and then one day, that mask comes off. She expects unpaid labor, discourages open communication, and reacts very harshly to any pushback. When employees inevitably burn out or stand up for themselves, she finds someone new to take their place and repeats the cycle. And in my opinion, her behavior sometimes crossed a line from simply unprofessional to personally hurtful. It’s heartbreaking to see a company use the language of empowerment while actively undermining the people who keep it running. I felt intimidated into silence when I was there, but I’m writing this now in hopes that others don’t fall into the same trap.
