Pros

- Down to earth small team that is ready to help should you ask; - Interview was based mostly if you are a good fit in personality for the team, and less on skills - this was a red flag from the get go; - Team is full of self starters; - Additional training will be subsided; - Lax dress code (tshirt and jeans normally), so you can leave suit at home; - There are some awesome clients you will work for; - Salary package is competitive; - HR department has a very supportive representative/s

Cons

- Firstly, they have a RIDICULOUS 6 month "probation" period, in that should you do anything that is viewed as remotely wrong in the eyes of the directors, you'll be shown the door along "you didn't have the necessary experience we seek", instead of telling you what skills you need to work on. I've had colleagues who are in their 5th month of employment asked to leave... Any subsided training you will need to pay back should you leave prior to your probation period; - Roles and responsibilities not clear until second week of employment. I didn't know if I was to be in sales, dev or chopping salad when I started; - No set career progression, with very little direction. There's a huge difference between spoon-feeding and giving clear direction. If you're not a self starter you will struggle here; - Some of the sales team behave as though they are still in high-school; wouldn't recommend if you are after strict professionalism/courtesy. They will tell you your timeline of when things are due 3 days in advance; - Zero guidance if you are meeting your targets or not (goes hand in hand with roles and responsibilities); - Zero standardisation on re-usable templates, installation guides or other thins that can speed up productivity; - You will be working on computer hardware from the 80's

GLiNTECH Response
7y
Thank you for your detailed review. I am sorry that you felt unheard while you were at GLiNTECH as we strive to have an open door policy. I waited till we had action-ed our new staff induction strategies to respond to this review. We have changed our induction process at GLiNTECH, making sure it is more collaborative, with clear objectives and planned checkpoints. This is a improvement to our process and has been working well. Having said that, it has always been clearly communicated during probation and beyond when team members were not performing. This is documented in our HRIS system and followed up by HR and the team manager. It is also reviewed by our external HR advisors to ensure communication is clear. Probation remains, in most cases, as 6 months because of the very steep learning curve. We employ people from varying technical backgrounds who may not have the subject matter expertise required as a Consultant at GLiNTECH. This gives individuals the opportunity to gain completely new skills, but it takes time. It would be unfair to our clients (and the individual) if we did not thoroughly train our team so that they can provide the expert advice clients seek. We have templates, installation guides and standardised processes and these are updated frequently. in 2018 we have improved this process further by having team days where consultants come together to brainstorm procedural updates and shared learning from their projects.

Pros

Exposure to a wide range of clients, from SMB through to large enterprise environments, working across the Atlassian platform. The role provides strong hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and varied project types. Flexible working arrangements are available, including work-from-home depending on the role and engagement. The organisational structure is relatively flat, which allows for accessible communication with leadership and minimal hierarchy barriers. Project work varies in duration, from short engagements through to longer-term implementations, providing a broad range of delivery experiences. In some cases, consultants will lead engagements independently. Overall, this is a strong environment for gaining hands-on consulting experience, particularly early in your career, but it’s important to understand the delivery expectations and operating model before joining.

Cons

Leave flexibility beyond standard entitlements can be limited at times, and approval for additional leave may require escalation. Resourcing models often involve a single consultant owning an engagement end-to-end. While this can provide strong ownership and experience, it can also increase pressure during delivery, particularly when balancing timelines, leave, or unexpected absences. Delivery management capacity can be stretched, which may result in consultants taking on additional responsibilities such as project coordination, documentation, and planning alongside delivery work. Billable utilisation expectations are consistent with the consulting industry, but extended periods of back-to-back engagements can make it challenging to allocate time for upskilling and keeping pace with frequent platform changes. Some processes and internal concerns have been raised over time, and while there is a strong and committed team culture, improvements in certain areas may take time to materialise. Certain policies, including training agreements and post-employment conditions, are important to review carefully to ensure full understanding prior to signing. The role can also extend beyond delivery into client coordination and engagement management activities. For some, this provides broader experience; for others, it may feel outside the expected scope of a pure consulting role.
