A trainee program that does not live up to the expectations - Generation Galp Trainee Galp Employee Review

Pros

It is the largest Portuguese company. There are some international opportunities in Spain and Brazil. It pays well compared to other trainee programs.

Cons

HR allocates the trainees to the different areas without knowing what the trainees will be doing. Development programs are only signed afterwards, if signed at all, and placements seem random. Trainees are supposed to go through 2 different placements but, at the end of the first 6 months, some trainees are not allowed to switch by their managers, regardless of whether they want to or not. There are huge disparities inside the company in what concerns culture, working hours, benefits and tasks performed by the trainees, leaving some trainees unsatisfied in comparison to their peers: E&P people get all the benefits; stay away from Purchasing, Investor Relations and Quality/Health & Safety. The company overall is conservative and averse to change.
