Pros

Gather is 100% focused on company culture and all the hip benefits of working for a software startup. There are lots of company events, happy hours and free meals. Overall positive working environment, but zero management or training available. A high energy environment with low expectations of productivity. Office hours 9:30-5.

Cons

There is no management structure and the success of their employees’ careers is not a priority for the company. This is not a working environment where you can grow your career. Due to the constant addition of new employees there is a rotating door of new faces & most employees have been working there less than 6 months. It’s a skiddish environment where job security is not discussed, and there are not clear expectations of how to be successful in the role. If you are looking for a job to advance your experience and career this is not the company where you will be satisfied or successful.

It’s nice to hear that you feel like we have an overall positive work environment. I am sorry that you feel like the management structure is lacking and that the success of our employees’ careers is not a priority for the company. We certainly aren’t perfect, but we work hard to create an environment that encourages growth and employee development. We have put an emphasis on career and professional growth by developing our managers, offering a Professional Development Program, and giving each employee the tools they need to be successful. We focused on building a strong management layer and launched a company-wide Manager Training Program to ensure our managers are successful leading and developing their teams. This past year saw internal mobility for over 40% of our employees. As you mention, there are tons of new faces at Gather as we are going through a period of hyper-growth. With growth comes change, and while there is always room to improve how we manage change in a few areas, we encourage employees and managers to have open and honest conversations regarding expectations and performance. I would encourage you to set up a time to speak with your manager, me, or any member of People Ops if you still have concerns, as our doors are always open and we are here to support!

Pros

-Amazing benefits -Transparency from all levels of management -Professional growth budget each year to learn new skills/attend conferences -Very invested in their employees and maintaining retention -Fun events throughout the year to celebrate wins and just to show employee appreciation -Many opportunities to voice your opinion on strengths/weaknesses of the company which they use to make improvements. They are making great strides to listen to their employees and make changes based on feedback -Fun workplace -Very team oriented, everyone supports each other -Dog friendly! -Everyone seems to really enjoy coming to work every day and working hard to help do their part in meeting company goals

Cons

-Not a lot of "middle management" positions to grow into but they are working to change this! -Growing very quickly which has come with a need for growing the headcount. They are working diligently to hire great candidates but until that goal is reached there is a heavy workload in some departments -Very comprehensive hiring process which is great for the company (selective, well-placed candidates) but can be a con if you are expecting an easy hiring process!
