Pros

Colleagues at the mid level are great, and some colleagues are really passionate about the work they do here. You don't go work in a museum if you don't love it.

Cons

Everything? Compensation is so low it doesn't make it worth coming to work each day. We finally got our first increases this year for the first time in forever. The leadership team is ineffectual, uninterested in the work, and in parts discriminatory. Your job description that you are hired under is not at all what you will be doing. Be ready to have all your work micromanaged by leaders who don't know what they are doing, but also don't want to listen to your ideas or improvements. Obviously the status quo is not working and not bringing in a new guest clientele. I have sat in so many meetings where no one is listened to with great ideas. Not just dismissed for monetary limitations, but dismissed out of hand because "that isn't how things are done here".

Pros

Amazing collection and artifacts. Beautiful grounds and estate, visually stunning place to be.

Cons

Toxic environment that does not encourage growth or progressiveness. Pays so low, most people who work there do not have children because the salary is so low. Their programming is boring and they cater to an aging patron who does not like to be challenged. Very stale, close minded atmosphere.
