Pros
- Many opportunities for school-funded professional development - Very diverse faculty and staff - Social Justice mission - Teacher Autonomy
Cons
- Lots of turnovers at School Leadership level (lower school principal role changed 4 times within 5 years) - Salary structure is improving in terms of transparency and equity; some have "grandfathered" into higher salaries than are currently instated (salary negotiation is not possible for teaching positions) - If you have children, tuition is not free or at a fixed discount. You must follow the regular Financial Aid process; based on income - Not many opportunities for teacher career advancement with pay increases. Possible to "take on more," less likely to have salary increased or job title "upgraded" - School leadership is very out of touch with the "pulse" of the educators; huge divide between leadership and employees who are directly student-facing
