Pros

pays good money. Always a need to be filled. Is good experience if your ok with simple stuff and being in over your head when major problems arise. actual time in plant is 8 hours paid

Cons

Particular plant seems to have a death grip on people. they will not let you have a "hand" much less the "Upper Hand" Converting maintenance is booked up solid five days a week, which leaves you zero time to attempt any kind of technical training. May or may not ever receive basic tools that I was told would be supplied. They are continuing to reduce what your boss can buy for you. If your 1 second late they dock you 2 hours PTO (even if there's inclement weather) Co workers who lived farther away burnt a whole day of PTO due heavy snow and plows not running until morning.

Pros

Schedule, flexibility, pay, co- workers, relationships

Cons

No COLA, annual reviews pushed back, comp reviews consistently pushed back even further. Non value added meetings & ‘fluff’ with Koch book reading requirements (which directly conflict in the respect philosophy when it comes to comp reviews), no consistency in business units- ie. Moving from one to another group a vast difference in how they treat/respect employees
