Pros
Working with some of the biggest names in the sports industry, including Federations & LOCs (FIFA, FIH, The FA), agencies (Nielsen, FUSE), to clubs & teams (Arsenal FC, West Ham, etc).
The senior management are extremely well connected having worked for years in sports recruitment before setting up GSJ.
The senior management are also very ambitious, looking to develop new concepts and ideas to better the product. However at times, this could feel like the company was taking on too much and stretching the resource and man power available.
All the staff aside from the senior management were under 30 and there was a good sense of teamwork in the office. However, this lack of experience could at times hinder the business and decisions made. At times it felt that it needed more experienced middle management to make decision or give advice to junior members of the team.
Based in Waterloo, the office is easily accessible.
Cons
Due to ongoing cash flow issues, it often felt the company was fighting for survival. Combine this with staff not being paid on time at the end of the month on 3 occasions whilst I was there, it does not fill you with confidence regarding job security or sustainable career progression.
The size of the organisation (7 people including the senior management) meant that the workload for each arm of the business was far too heavy. One way to combat this would be to hire more people but obviously the above cash flow point makes this difficult.
There is no company culture outside of the office unless staff organised drinks or activities themselves.
The turnover of staff is through the roof and not a viable way to run a business.
