Pros

If you have thick skin and plenty of patience, you can make some decent money for a call center. You have to be a certain type of person to excel at this job but it's possible.

Cons

* You make $12/hr for three months of "training" then it's performance-based. There's been many times I've made decent money, but also often have gone months where my hourly rate has be lower than that of a fast food worker. * Have to clock out for 30 min lunch break, also they decide when your lunch break is. * Two 15 min breaks for an 8 hour shift, also they decide when that break is. If your break goes longer than 15 min you will be sure to hear about it. * Everything is tracked and you time is heavily micromanaged. * They expect you to be a robot in order to meet weekly metrics. * You're calling people 95% of the time and receiving calls 5% of the time. * Communication and bureaucracy between departments creates many obstacles for you and the customer as well, and they will not hesitate to take their frustration out on you. * Office environment and management style is very 1950's. * Dealing with customers can be extremely stressful. * Turnover rate is about less than a year for majority people. Throughout the year you always see new people come and go. At some point the job becomes to stressful to handle for such low pay.
