Pros
The obvious pros are the people and the perks. At companies like this, which have all the top-notch perks (comprehensive health coverage, 'unlimited' PTO, office dogs, catered meals etc), the caliber of employee is usually very high. My coworkers were the best part of my tenure at GoSpotCheck, and I remain close friends with several of them to this day.
Cons
Unfortunately, basically everything else at the company has been spoiled by the leadership. Generally, their egos have driven the company into a 'Yes man' state wherein anybody with a differing opinion is falsely encouraged to share their feedback and then punished for doing so. These poisonous egos, and the complete failure to admit to - or try to solve - any of their mistakes has resulted in deep and recurring issues across product, engineering, and commercial teams. It's a sinking ship in every sense of the word. A barely functional product, lack of direction or experience at the C-level, a severely under-performing sales team, and more are just a few symptoms of all of the deep-rooted issues here. Career development is completely off the table, despite what they may tell you in interviews - unless you were lucky enough to have begun working there 5+ years ago. Truly, I wish I didn't have to write this, but I feel it is necessary to warn anybody who may be thinking about taking a job there. If this review helps influence one person not to pursue or take a job there, it will be a success in my eyes.
