Don't expect to be paid the industry average - Assistant Manager Golden State Foods Employee Review

Pros

Decent benefits. Solid 401k contribution.

Cons

If you are a manager, expect to be paid less than the industry average. There are heavy demands for you time, but the compensation does not equal the level of expected effort and availability. Expectations are high, but there is little autonomy. You are expected to achieve within narrow parameters. Even when it is abundantly clear that more staff is needed, staff is not added because the current overworked staff is meeting goals. It's is an unsustainable philosophy. However, this varies by facility. Not all DCs are treated the same. The company picks winners and losers. It's a weird dynamic, which I believe was motivated by personality. If you are someone who is liked by regional and corporate managers, then you get support. If you are not liked, then you have put in a position where failure is your eventually option unless you can continue to convince your direct reports to give and sacrifice more.

Pros

I like the people I work with

Cons

Company is not what it used to be under Mark Wetterau. Now with Lindsey Goldberg as the new owners, I feel like I have to walk on egg shells. The gap between the execs and everyone else makes us feel like they are entirely different people. Never thought GSF is just another stepping stone to a better company.no room for growth what do ever unless you know someone or work under the right executive.
